I would like to share my story on how I was fortunate enough to become a patient of Dr. Zakarian. I am a 43 year old mom of an amazing 8 year old son, a wife, a full time professional, and bellydancer for 25 years. My story began at my dance affiliates studio where we were rehearsing for an upcoming show. Out of nowhere I started to feel ill, very ill. I made it to the bathroom and proceeded to vomit and sweat profusely before collapsing on the floor. While I was conscious, I was unable to move. My partner wanted to call an ambulance or take me to ther ER, foolish me decided to wait it out. I did make it home eventually after about an hour of wondering if I was going to pull through this. I had mentioned earlier that evening that my "lady time" of the month had started to get unbearable and since it was about that time I knew it had to be related. The next week I had an appointment with Simply Womens Health to see what might be going on. It had been at least 4 years since my last visit, also foolish. From there I was scheduled for an ultra sound which came back pretty ugly. At that point a hysterectomy was recommended. Well I freaked out, not that I wanted anymore children, but whoa thats major surgery! They also recommended that I find a surgeon and have some further testing. I didn't even have a general Dr so I didn't even know where to begin. When I told my Mother in Law what was going on she said " I know who you need to go see!" One of her longtime dear friends is JoAnn the lovely office manager for Dr. Zakarian. She was able to get me right in to discuss my situation and what options might be available for me. I loved Dr. Zakarian right out of the gate. She is a kind and caring woman who is very passionate about womens health. I felt very comfortable in her presence, as well as the rest of the staff. Nurse Becky was so easy to talk to and really kept my anxiety levels down to a dull roar. Dr. Zakarian took a very aggressive approach to my treatment. That first appointment included a blood test and a uterine biopsy, ouch! So thankful that Lyndsay was there with her soothiong bedside manner to hold my hand and keep me calm. Within a few days I had an MRI which confirmed the worst. Dr. Zakarian called me that night (after hours) to go over the results. Fibroids, cysyts, and possible endometriosis. The next day my surgery was on the calender. The best part was I ended up being a candidate for the Da Vinci! My pre op appointment was informative and positive. I now know why Dr. Zakarian was so excited for the Da Vinci, she is a ninja with that robot! She was in surgery with me for 6+ hours due to all of the scar tissue she had to remove, it was a real mess in there. I checked in about 5am and was released around 5pm. My post op recovery was text book. No major issues or anything unusual, just 7 weeks of healing. I followed my post op instructions to the "T" which paid off! We did end up taking out my ovaries too so hormonal issues form surgical menopause were most likely to follow. Due to the endometriosis Dr. Zakarian wanted to hold off on the HRT for 3 months and just gave me estrogen. It was pretty rough with moodiness and some minor hot flashes but very manageable. Almost immediately after I started to take the HRT my system leveled out and I felt great! Better than ever actually! This experience changed my life so much for the better. My scarring is so minimal you might not believe me if I told you I had abdominal surgery 7 months ago. 2 incision sights, one through the bellybutton and one to the right whicha re now barely visible. I started bellydancing again about 3 months post op, and now I am back to a regular poerformance schedule stronger than ever! Dr. Zakarian is a phenomenal surgeon and an amazing woman whom I owe my wonderful quality of life to.

Marianne Zakarian, Dr. Zakarian delivered three of my babies, performed my tubal ligation, and then did a hysterectomy and bladder/bowel repair for me when I prolapsed. The final surgery occurred after I moved out of state, but I felt it was well worth the six hour drive to have her do it.
As one of her patients for over ten years, I feel that I have gotten to know her and her staff very well. She is strong, caring, smart, insightful, and wise. I’ve seen her make decisive, split-second decisions with calm determination and successful outcomes. She is gentle, careful and meticulous. I always felt nurtured by her and her office staff. They took the time to get to know me, and bent over backwards to make me feel important. She communicated well by answering my questions and addressing my concerns. I knew I could count on her to help manage my pain in an appropriate way.
Dr. Zakarian carefully researches and learns all she can about new procedures before rejecting or implementing them. I knew that I was in good hands. My recent hysterectomy and repair changed my life. Because of her excellent work I healed quickly, with minimal scarring, and I feel better than I have for years. I highly recommend Dr. Marianne Zakarian and her office staff.

Before my robotic hysterectomy, I was in so much pain that it was interfering with my quality of life. I have 5 children at home between the ages of 1 and 7. They were having to watch a lot of TV while I lay on the couch, curled up in a ball. When Dr. Zakarian told me about the robotic hysterectomy, I was a little nervous to have surgery, but I was willing to do almost anything at that point. I was pleasantly surprised with how quickly I was able to recover and get back to my regular life. The scars are almost nonexistent and my pain is gone! Thank you Dr. Zakarin for allowing me to be the mom I need to be to my children!

Dear Dr Zakarian,
I just wanted to express my gratitude to you and your entire staff for everything you have done for me over these past twelve years. Especially over this past year. When I think about how you all work together so closely to help women bring children into this world, as well as when it is time to transition from those childbearing years into menopause, and everything inbetween, you have a tremendous job. The impact your have made upon my life is huge, and I am so grateful to all of you.
My husband and I will never forget that day Dr Z. Walked into our maternity room the day after giving birth to our daughter Ashley. It had been a difficult labor, and I was in pain from my episiotomy. I had asked the nurse to bring me an ice pack. I was waiting a long time, and when Dr Z got there and saw me, she took charge and got one right away. She had been through childbirth and had a greater understanding of my situation than what my current OBGYN had. She told me much more about what was happening, and what I needed to do to take care of myself. We were so impressed that I switched doctors immediately, and I am so glad I did.
I have worked in the medical field for 19 years, and I have never interacted with a more caring and professional group. Truly, this has been the hardest year of my life. You have seen me as a patient through all of it, and I know you could just say "oh, I was just doing my job," when I say thank you, but it is more than that. It was one of my greatest joys to have my two children, and my greatest sorrow when I decided it was time to move on into menopause. Though it is the best thing for me. I have shared these two very personal moments of my greatest sorrow and my greatest happiness with you Dr Zakarian, and Becky, and Lindsay. Your office staff Joanne and Lisa were there too taking all of my messages, never judging my concerns, but being cheerful and professional always.
From the bottom of my heart, please know how much I and my husband appreciate you all. Your job is so meaningful and important to those women you treat. Thank you.
Warmest Regards,

Z for about 3 1/2 years. I
went to see her due to infertility. I got pregnant right away due to the
medicine that was prescribed. Unfortunately, that first pregnancy ended in a
miscarriage. She was very understanding and encouraged us to wait a few months
and then give it another shot. In October of 2009 I gave birth to a beautiful,
healthy baby boy! I just recently gave birth again to a healthy baby girl. It
was an unplanned c-section and Dr. Z was very good about helping me not
feel so anxious about it. She's a great doctor and really makes you feel
that important. Her staff is great as well. I am very lucky to have chosen her
as my OBGYN. I would recommend her to everyone who is seeking a caring,
compassionate doctor.
Zakarian's office to
any woman looking to be well cared for, listened to, and encouraged in her
health needs. I feel very attended to and valued as a patient by the full staff
at Dr. Zakarian's office. They took the time to answer all my
questions and helped ease concerns I had by giving me solutions that fit my
needs and information to help make my decisions. I appreciate how caring they
are and highly recommend them to anyone.
and
compassionate OBGYN I have ever had. I just moved here from the DC area and
found out we were expecting our first child. I searched everywhere for a
doctor and was referred to her by my hairdresser. I would recommend her
to anyone I cared about. She took so much time with both me and my husband
explaining everything we could expect. Her staff is so professional and friendly
and knowledgeable as well. Her office is tasteful and modern. I am so lucky to
have found her practice. You can truly tell that she loves what she does.
